REFUTING THE USE OF JOHN 17:1-3 TO SAY THAT JESUS IS MAN AND THE FATHER IS ONLY GOD.

Let's read the verses:

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

REFUTATION:

Look carefully at the verse 3, there is the word AND.

Actually verse 3 proves that Jesus wants men to know that He and his Father are the true God.

AND is used as connector grammatically to be ALONG OR TOGETHER WITH.

How can you say that Jesus is only a man and the Father is only God if we'll read in verse 5

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

Christ had his glory before the creation of the world. How can you say that Jesus is only a man?

Christ's glory is similar of his Father. let's read:

John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The reason for having a glory similar to his Father it is because is He is God with the Father in the beginning whom by means of Him all things were made

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

In verse 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. It is clear that the HIM mentions in verses 3 and 4 is the Word who is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Only God is the life read this verse.

Deuteronomy 30:20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

Now INC members or Church of Manalo's members will disagree that John 17:1-3 proves that Jesus wants people to know that He and his Father are God,  IS THERE A VERSE THAT PROVES JESUS INTRODUCED HIMSELF AS A GOD?

Since their church always uses different Bible versions, We will use them also:

John 8:24 "I said to you that you shall die in your sins, for unless you shall believe that I AM THE LIVING GOD, you shall die in your sins." (Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

John 8:24
That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. And you will die in your sins if you do not believe that ‘I Am Who I Am’.” (Good News Translation)

I am Who I am is the name of God

Exodus Chapter Three (Good News Translation)

13 But Moses replied, “When I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your ancestors sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ So what can I tell them?”

14 God said, “I am who I am. You must tell them: ‘The one who is called I Am[a] has sent me to you.’

This church will only say "Oh this verse is wrong, twisted hahaha" it is because this will not in favor of their silly and wrong belief.

But this church also always use ERV version in Acts 2:22 that Jesus is a special man, CEV and The Message in 2 John 1:7 to say that Jesus is truly human

but using those versions in other verses will prove that Jesus is also God. We Catholics do not disagree that Jesus is also man. WE CHALLENGE THEM TO SHOW IN ANY VERSION THAT LORD JESUS SAID THAT HE IS NOT GOD.

Jesus is also God even in human flesh in ERV and The Message Bible versions in Romans 9:5.

They are the descendants of our great fathers, and they are the earthly family of the Messiah, who is God over all things. Praise him forever![a] Amen. (Easy to Read Version)

They had everything going for them—family, glory, covenants, revelation, worship, promises, to say nothing of being the race that produced the Messiah, the Christ, who is God over everything, always. Oh, yes! (The Message)

In these versions, The Father said to his Son Jesus Christ that he is God

Hebrews 1:8 You’re God, and on the throne for good;
    your rule makes everything right.
You love it when things are right;
you hate it when things are wrong. (The Message)
Hebrews 1:8 But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. (Easy to Read Version)

IN CEV, CHRIST IS ALSO GOD:
Hebrews 1:8 But God says about his Son,
“You are God,
and you will rule
    as King forever!
Your[a] royal power
    brings about justice.

LET'S USE THE ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPTS OF THE BIBLE, DID CHRIST SAY THAT HE IS GOD?

A) Latin Vulgate of John 8:24

Therefore I said to you that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin.
dixi ergo vobis quia moriemini in peccatis vestris si enim non credideritis quia ego sum moriemini in peccato vestro

It says here that If men dont believe that Jesus is not I AM HE, they will die in their sins.

THE TERM I AM HE is the term for God:

Isaiah 48:12 Latin Vulgate

Hearken to me, O Jacob, and thou Israel whom I call: I am he, I am the first, and I am the last.

audi me Iacob et Israhel quem ego voco ego ipse ego primus et ego novissimus

God is the first and the last:

Isaiah 41:4 Who hath wrought and done these things, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, I am the first and the last. (Latin Vulgate)

The Lord is God in Psalms 118:27

quis haec operatus est et fecit vocans generationes ab exordio ego Dominus primus et novissimus ego sum

LET'S USE THE CODEX SINAITICUS, DID CHRIST SAY THAT HE IS GOD?

We will use this manucript that is non Catholic.

John 8:24 Therefore said I to you that you shall die in your sins; for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins.

I am he is the term of God.

Even the Jews agree that Jesus is introducing himself as God but for them he is only a man pretending to be a God.

John 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
